AINP:

As of September 2014 the processing times for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) are a minimum of 14 – 25 months, depending on the category chosen. This is a huge increase in the time taken to obtain the nomination certificate which is only the first stage in the process of becoming a permanent resident http://www.albertacanada.com/opportunity/immigrating/ainp-processing-times.aspx

And after you receive your nomination there is still an average of 17 months for Citizenship and Immigration Canada to process your actual Permanent Residence application. This means that if you apply through the AINP it could take up to 3 years to become a Permanent Resident. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/provincial.asp

BCPNP:

As of October 2014 the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) processing times are quoted as a minimum of 8 – 9 months, which again is only the first stage in the process of becoming a permanent resident http://www.welcomebc.ca/Immigrate/About-the-BC-PNP/About-the-BC-PNP/Processing-Times.aspx

And after you receive your nomination there is still an average of 17 months for Citizenship and Immigration Canada to process your actual Permanent Residence application. This means that if you apply through the BCPNP it could take over 2 years to become a Permanent Resident. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/provincial.asp

Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – A possible solution

If you are a skilled worker with a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience in Canada you may be eligible to apply for Permanent Residence via the Canadian Experience Class.

Current average processing times for CEC applications are 13 months from CIC receiving a complete application http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-ec.asp

But You Have to Hurry

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) closes on December 31 2014 and complete applications must be received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) before that date. You also need to complete a language skills test and places book out quickly.

Act now and you might be eligible for CEC.
